Help Book Guidelines
A free, easy-to-use directory of local programs and services in the Camrose area, available online and in print, helping individuals and families find support when they need it. Maintained by Camrose & District Family and Community Support Services (CDFCSS).
New for 2026
To ensure we can continue providing the Help Book, we’ve made a few important changes. These include:
- Implementing listing guidelines and updating eligibility
- Expanded categories to allow more local supports to participate
- Bringing back advertising
Advertising revenue will help cover the annual costs of maintaining the Help Book and ensure a printed version remains available for individuals who prefer or rely on a physical copy.
We understand the new listing guidelines and advertising requirements may feel unexpected, especially for those familiar with the previous process. These changes are necessary to keep the Help Book sustainable. Thank you for your understanding.
Listing Guidelines
Eligibility
We include listings for programs and services that provide direct support to individuals, families, or communities within the areas served by Camrose & District FCSS.
- Non-profit organizations are not required to purchase an ad to be included in our listings.
- For-profit organizations receive a complimentary text listing when they purchase an ad.
- Certain categories require valid accreditation, certification, or licensing in compliance with applicable industry standards. Proof may be requested during the review process.
Listing Content
Listings, both online and in print, will include basic contact information and a description. This description is limited to 3 bullet points and 375 characters. Descriptions should give users enough information to determine if they want to reach out for more information.
Categories
CDFCSS determines categories based on the needs of our community and they may change year to year.
The Help Book is divided into multiple sections, with each section containing relevant categories. Some categories may appear in more than one section. Your listing will be placed in the section that best aligns with your organization’s primary focus.
See below for an up to date list of categories.
New Listings and Updates
All listings are reviewed and renewed annually. If your organization currently has a listing, it will be sent to you for review and updates. If anything changes in the meantime, let us know and we’ll do our best to make the changes online.
New listings are welcome! If your organization is not currently listed and would like to be included, download the form below and submit it to digital@camrosefcss.ca.
For-profit listings are only accepted during our annual update window, but you can join our waiting list to be contacted when that window opens.
We reserve the right to edit or modify listings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with our guidelines.
Advertising
Organizations that qualify for a listing in the Help Book are welcome to advertise. Advertising is only accepted once a year during our annual update period, which begins in the summer for the following year’s edition released in January.
For-profit organizations must purchase an ad each year during the annual update period to continue receiving their complimentary listing.
Ads appear in both the printed Help Book and your online directory listing, increasing your reach to the community.
Why the Help Book matters!
1. It connects people to help—fast.
Whether someone needs help with basic needs or personal support, the Help Book puts all the information in one place. No more searching endlessly or wondering where to start.
2. It makes navigating supports easier.
With so many programs out there, it’s easy to get lost. The Help Book keeps things organized by category, so users can find the right fit without getting overwhelmed.
3. It supports frontline workers.
Professionals and volunteers use the Help Book every day to help clients navigate services. It’s a go-to resource for police, nurses, social workers, outreach teams, and more.
4. It brings awareness to local supports.
Many people don’t realize what’s available in their own community. The Help Book shines a light on local supports—big and small—so more people can access them.
5. It's been trusted by the community for 30 years.
The Help Book has been around for years and is widely used across the region. It’s known as a reliable, up-to-date source of information that’s created with care.
FAQs
When is the deadline to update or submit a listing?
For the 2026 edition, all listings should be confirmed booked no later than October 31, 2025.
I had a listing in last year’s Help Book, do I need to do anything?
If your organization was listed last year, we’ll contact you to confirm your listing information is up to date. For-profit organizations will also be asked to confirm their ad purchase at that time. Updated ad pricing will be provided.
How does the Help Book listing and advertising process work?
Once you reach out, we’ll send you a form to complete with your organization’s details. After reviewing your submission, we’ll confirm your inclusion in the Help Book.
If you’re interested in advertising (required for for-profit organizations and optional for non-profits), you’ll need to choose an ad size that fits your budget. If you’re unsure which size works best, we can help you select the right option. After that, our designer will reach out to work directly with you to create an ad that effectively represents your organization.
Our goal is to make the process easy and straightforward for everyone.
Are programs and services in the Help Book screened by CDFCSS?
Businesses, services, and organizations included in the Help Book, whether as a listing or through advertising, are not screened by Camrose & District FCSS, and their inclusion does not imply endorsement.
Camrose & District FCSS coordinates listings of community-serving organizations. For-profit organizations purchase an ad to receive a listing, while non-profit organizations are provided a listing at no cost.
