Maintenance Coordinator
The Older Adult Services provides community-based social supports for older adults creating a safe and supportive environment for older adults to age well in their homes and communities. The supports include in-home supports, meals on wheels, lawn maintenance & snow shoveling, Nav-CARE, volunteer drivers, community kitchen, information/referral/support, public information & awareness and assistance with government forms.
About The Role
Camrose and District FCSS is seeking a reliable and self-motivated individual to coordinate maintenance for the program. This role involves providing seasonal support such as lawn care in the summer, snow removal in the winter, and light home maintenance throughout the year. The Maintenance Coordinator also maintains equipment, works independently, supervises and mentors volunteers, and builds positive relationships with older adults and seniors in the community. This is a part-time, fixed-term position, working 32 hours/week, Monday to Friday – with the understanding that flexibility is required.
Start Date: Position will begin as soon as an appropriate candidate is found.
Salary: Salary will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
The role of the Older Adult Services Maintenance Coordinator is to champion and provide supervision for the volunteers. The Maintenance Coordinator will oversee direct service delivery and operations of the program for older adults including:
Leadership and Supervision
- Supports and fosters the mission, goals, and guiding principles of the Older Adult Services and the project.
- Provides direction, training, support and supervision of volunteers, providing appropriate resources to do the work, and training development as necessary and available.
- Involves staff and volunteers in decision making, problem solving, dispute resolution and program enhancement.
Program Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Works with the Volunteer Coordinator and other volunteers to ensure that program intent, delivery and standards are followed, and that older adults’ needs are identified and addressed.
- Develop, schedule, and implement daily programming according to the program boundaries,
- Supervise, and assist the volunteers with the day-to-day activities, creating a safe, warm and welcoming environment for everyone at the program
- Daily set-up of the equipment and supplies needed for the volunteers
- Maintain organization of the equipment and supplies
- Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies, and equipment; order as needed
- Daily clean up and lock up of supplies, equipment
- Have prepared activities, and directions for these activities, the team’s routine, and all required information in the event of your absence for relief staff to follow
- Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with various duties as requested, related to the benefit of the project.
Operational and Administrative
- Provides day-to-day operations by maintaining adequate, appropriate operational and statistical records of all applicable program activities and assisting with external and internal communications.
- Ensure all team members working at this site complete a staff or volunteer orientation checklist
- Complete, documentation and accident/incident reports as necessary the day it happens
- Daily report volunteer activities and hours to the Volunteer Coordinator
- Complete & record the daily equipment safety inspection sheet
- Complete the cleaning daily, along with the weekly cleaning chart charts
Client and Public Relations
- Promotes and practices excellent public relations with clients, program participants, their families, other Older Adult Services clients and personnel, and the community in general.
- Assists Volunteer Coordinator to orient and train volunteers regarding service delivery practices and especially stressing respect for the needs of clients, program participants and their families.
- Assists the Volunteer Coordinator with timely and effective problem-solving grievance handling and dispute resolution.
- Assists with general Older Adult Services services to the public as appropriate, necessary, and feasible.
Community Partnership and Liaisons
- Cooperates with other community programs serving Older Adult Services clients (i.e., The Bethany Group, Assisted Living Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, Recovery Alberta), resulting in linked services where appropriate.
- Be an ambassador within the community of senior’s services, liaison with agencies as needed about client and potential needs and work collaboratively with support agencies or organizations.
- Supporting capacity – support volunteer education and ongoing development; share resources.
General Competencies
- Is familiar with Camrose & District FCSS policies and practice and maintains such familiarity in terms of policy revisions and changes; is similarly familiar with Older Adult Services policy and practices.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with small yard care equipment, hand tools, small power tools, loading and securing trailer, towing and hauling a trailer.
- Supervisory experience in a related field
- Excellent interpersonal, inter-professional team skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, organizational and planning skills
- Comfortable working independently; available some weekends and/or evenings
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License, reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance, and clean driver’s abstract
- Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check - dated within 6 months of commencement date and updated every 3 years or sooner upon request
