Delivery Driver

Role Description

Meals on Wheels volunteers have the opportunity delivering homemade, fresh & frozen meals to thankful community members. You will play a part in supplying community members with healthy & nutritious meals along with peace of mind by delivering fresh & frozen meals to appreciative clients along a pre-assigned route. The ability to read a map would be beneficial in this position. 

Please be aware that as a volunteer in this role there may be risk of slips/trips/falls, inclement weather, low risk of other personal injury, etc.

Goals of Service

Meals on Wheels allows individuals of all ages to live well by providing them with homemade meals in reheatable, reusable containers to eliminate stress on the mind & body caused by cooking, combat malnutrition or diet related illnesses and health conditions, and ensure people in our community have access to delicious, nutritious, and affordable food options.

Time Commitment

Deliveries occur every Tuesday & Thursday from 10:30am-12:30pm. You are able to sign up for as many or as little shifts as you would like!

Build Your Own Team

Each team is made up of:

• One driver coordinator who is responsible for coordinating volunteer drivers from their team and may also be counted as a volunteer driver.
• At least 3 members with their own vehicle in order to make deliveries on separate routes.

Volunteer Requirements

To be a Meals on Wheels volunteer, you will need the following:

• A Volunteer Application Form
• Police Information Check
• Copy of full Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
• 1 Training Session from an existing Volunteer Delivery Driver
