Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)

Assist individuals with low-moderate incomes, allowing them to receive government benefits, access subsidies, and more!

Role Description

We are in need of some dedicated administrative volunteers to assist individuals with low-moderate incomes, allowing them to receive government benefits, access subsidies, and more! As a volunteer with this program, your role will entail: 

  • Filling out a simple intake form with the community member alongside fellow volunteers and a CDFCSS staff person, 
  • Placing all the applicable paperwork into a filing cabinet, 
  • Making phone calls to community members once their taxes are completed,
  • Providing simple information and referral services 

Please be aware that you may be in a position of trust and authority, will have access to confidential information, and will commonly interact one-on-one with the public.

Goals of Service

Camrose & District FCSS is a registered Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) hub with the Canada Revenue Agency. Trained volunteers help run the program year round in order to assist individuals in the City and County of Camrose with simple tax situations to complete their income taxes free of charge on a first come, first serve basis.

Time Commitment

This opportunity takes place from mid-March until the end of April from 10:00am - 4:00pm at the Duggan Wellness Centre. This is a flexible position! Sign up for as many or as little shifts as you are available.

Volunteer Requirements

To be a volunteer, you will need the following:

  • A Volunteer Application Form
  • Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Copy of Photo Identification
  • Training will be provided

Step 1: Submit Application Online

Create an account for Better Impact and fill out our online application form with your personal information and areas of interest.

Step 2: Meet With Volunteer Coordinator

We'll discuss your options and address any questions. After that, we'll contact your references. If everything is in order, you'll need to apply for a police information and vulnerable sector check.

Step 3: Complete
Training

Once accepted, you will need to read our volunteer handbook, and complete training to prepare you
for your volunteer role.
