Transportation Driver
The Older Adult Services provides community-based social supports for older adults creating a safe and supportive environment for older adults to age well in their homes and communities. The supports include in-home supports, meals on wheels, lawn maintenance & snow shoveling, Nav-CARE, volunteer drivers, community kitchen, information/referral/support, public information & awareness and assistance with government forms.
About The Role
Camrose & District FCSS is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and community-minded individual to join the Provincial Assisted Transportation Project, a province-wide initiative coordinated by Healthy Aging Alberta. This position provides safe, reliable, and supportive door-through-door transportation services for older adults, over the age of 55 with mobility, cognitive or social barriers. The Driver assists clients from their homes to destinations and back, ensuring accessibility, safety, and dignity. This position is a fixed term, part-time position and hours are flexible based on service demand.
Start Date: Position will start as soon as an appropriate candidate is found.
Salary: Salary will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
The Transportation Driver provides safe, client-centered transportation services while supporting the mission and goals of Camrose & District FCSS, including:
Client Transportation and Support
- Provide safe, courteous, and reliable transportation to grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, medical, social, recreational, wellness programs and community service appointments.
- Deliver door-through-door assistance, including light mobility support to vehicle, supporting clients from residence to appointment entrances, assisting with mobility aids (walkers, canes, folding wheelchairs, etc.), and providing escort and wayfinding support when appropriate.
- Ensure a respectful, dignified, and client-centered service environment.
Operations and Documentation
- Follow all transportation safety protocols, risk management procedures, and client confidentiality standards.
- Complete trip logs, mileage records, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately.
- Communicate effectively with the Transportation Coordinator regarding scheduling, client needs, service changes, and concerns.
- Conduct basic vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness.
Community Engagement and Referral
- Identify clients’ needs and refer to appropriate local supports and community resources when appropriate.
- Act as an ambassador for Camrose & District FCSS, promoting accessibility and independence for older adults, seniors and individuals with mobility or cognitive barriers.

Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Experience driving older adults, seniors or individuals with mobility limitations is an asset.
- Knowledge of the City and County of Camrose and Edmonton, Leduc, Red Deer, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide safe, client-centered transportation.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to assist passengers with limited mobility safely and respectfully.
Preferred Assets
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Defensive driving training
- Experience working with older adults, dementia supports, or disability services
- Understanding of community support systems and rural transportation barriers
Requirements
- Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check - dated within 6 months of commencement date and updated every 3 years or sooner upon request.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to lift and assist with mobility devices as required
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Working Conditions
- Part-time(21 hours/week), fixed term, flexible hours based on service demand, this would include weeknights and weekends
- Primarily office, company vehicle & community outreach or event support.
- Flexibility required to accommodate transportation scheduling needs.
