Day Camp Leader

Camrose County Summer in the Park (CCSP) is a summer day camp that travels weekly between 5 identified County Hamlets and Villages in the County of Camrose.
Reporting to the Camrose & District FCSS CCSP Lead, Summer Day Camp Leaders work within a team to help facilitate a program that encourages participants (aged 6 – 12) to improve their self-confidence/independence, builds interpersonal skills, and create a fun/unique experience for them. As the primary caregivers for participants, you and your team member will be responsible for creating a positive environment for them and ensuring their health and safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and act as a positive role model for participants.
- Supervise participants throughout all activities.
- Engage participants in a positive and encouraging environment.
- Plan, facilitate, and adapt programming to suite the needs of the participants.
- Be familiar with the medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and/or behavioural concerns of participants and act according to information and training provided.
- Ensure that safety standards and procedures are maintained.
- Assist in cleaning up after activities and at the end of each day.
- Adhere to all Camrose & District FCSS Policies and Procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
- High School Completion and confirmation of attendance at a post secondary school in the fall of 2026, is required.
- Have Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificates.
- Provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector check.
- Drivers License and Drivers Abstract
- Experience or interest in working with children and youth.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to plan and implement activities for children within the identified age range, with a variety of interests.
- Organizational skills in creating and maintaining schedules and other administrative tasks.
- Knowledge and understanding of rural communities, service delivery.
- Able to work independently and as part of the team.
Contract length: 9 weeks
Wage: 17.50 per hour (full time)
Expected start date: June 27th 2022

Schedule
Day shift, Monday to Friday, No weekends.
