Homemaking Services


What follows is a guideline only. Services will depend on what needs to be done and what the clients can do for themselves.
Kitchen
- Do up dirty dishes, if any.
- Clean sink and wipe counter tops.
- Wipe top and front of fridge and stove.

- Shine chrome and appliances.
- Wipe finger marks around doors, light switches, etc.
- Wash or vacuum floor.
- Empty garbage.
Bathroom
- Clean mirrors, sink, and wipe off vanity.
- Clean tub, tiles, toilet, and toilet bowl.
- Wipe bath tub seats and grab bars.
- Empty garbage.
Living Room / Dining Room
- Tidy up (papers, magazines, etc.).
- Dust pictures, etc. on walls.
- Vacuum rug.
Bedrooms
- Dust/polish furniture.
- Wipe mirrors.
- Wipe finger marks on walls.
- Make bed and change linen as needed.
- Vacuum Rug.
Laundry
- Sort, wash, dry, fold and put away.
Errands
- Homemakers may do errands for clients. Mileage will be charged to the clients for errands.
Preparing Meals
- As needed for each client. Homemakers usually prepare dishes which can be frozen and easily reheated.
Parental Support
- Homemakers may provide assistance and support for the parent / caregiver to help with household tasks.
Respite Care
- Staying with elderly persons for short periods while the caregiver is absent. (Daytime hours - Monday - Friday)
Seasonal Cleaning
For clients already on the program. These are tasks done once or twice a year. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Inside windows.
- Washing walls and ceilings.
- Taking down drapes and laundering them.
- Cleaning out deep freezes.
- Cleaning out cupboards.
- Removing and washing items in a china cabinet.
Personal care assistance is NOT performed by our staff, however clients may choose to shower or bathe themselves while staff are present in the home to help increase the clients sense of security.
Equipment
We do not supply any equipment. Vacuum cleaners, mops, pails, cloths, cleaning supplies, and any other equipment necessary to do the job must be supplied by the client.
Cancellations
If you will not be home when the Homemaker is scheduled to arrive, you must call the office to cancel the visit, otherwise your homemaker will arrive and you will be charged for 1 hour. If this occurs 3 times without cancelling, you will be charged for the full visit.

Cost
The cost is based on an income assessment. Final rate payable by the client, will be determined by the Director according to net household income from line 236 on your most recent income tax return, taking into account service requirements, and other support systems in place. Allowances will be made for dependant children. There is a one hour minimum charge. If your financial circumstances change after your rate has been set, please let us know.
Payment
- Do not pay the Home Support Aide directly. You will be asked to sign a time sheet indicating how long the Home Support Aide has worked for you.
- We will send a bill by mail once per month, indicating the number of visits you have had and the amount owing.
- Services may also be billed to someone other than the client.

Camrose & District Home Support Services is a project of Camrose & District Support Services receiving the support from the Camrose County, the City of Camrose, and the Villages of Bawlf, Bittern Lake, Edberg, Ferintosh, Hay Lakes, New Norway and Rosalind.
Home Support Aides
Our staff are friendly, mature trained people. They are skilled in housekeeping duties. They are understanding and sympathetic and respect the confidence of everyone they work with.
Please Note We Do Not:
- Shampoo carpets
- Do laundry by hand
- Do yard work
- Clean up after pets
- Move heavy appliances
- Clean recreational vehicles
- Clean outside windows
- Wash heavy drapes by hand
