Safe, supportive, free, temporary accommodation for women and children affected by family violence, in a crisis, or homeless. Priority given to abused women with children. Telephone and in-person support available to women in the community. Outreach services for women and their families, including those who choose not to come into the shelter. Full-time school program grades 1-9. Information on abuse, referrals, advocacy, and counselling. Groups for parenting after abuse, children, women's support, pre-school play, childcare program, walk-in danger assessments, safety planning, domestic violence education, life skills, and community awareness.

Individual and group counselling for men (Changing Ways) and women (Choices), affected by domestic violence; adult anger management groups; and Parenting After Violence group for parents of children ages 0-6 years. Services for children: one-to-one counselling for children/youth ages 6+ affected by violence, anger or bullying. Community Outreach: FVAS coordinates the Camrose Family Violence Response Council and will meet with the local agencies and groups to talk about family violence, including "best practices" regarding treatment and intervention support. Funded primarily by CDSS and Alberta Children and Youth Services.
Adult groups meet weekly in evening hours. Individual counselling daytime or evening by appointment.

Mental Health & Addiction professionals provide voluntary community based counselling/treatment (including psychiatric consultation as required), information & referral to all ages who present with a clearly definable mental illness &/or alcohol, drug, tobacco or gambling problems. Additional programs include:
Promotion & prevention around brain safety, client consultation, & education specific to an acquired brain injury.
Mental health & emotional wellness activities & education to increase awareness & understanding & reduce stigma. Programs consist of Suicide Prevention, Mental Health First Aid & Men at Risk
Prevention, education & information services are also provided through presentation to schools, agencies & community groups as well as through the office resource library & other resource materials within the addiction service stream.

Provides a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere to promote the use of a child's most important learning tool - meaningful play. Activities include theme/letters of the month, arts & crafts, gym and outdoor activities, interactive reading & field trips. Funded by CDSS.
Classes are 1/week for 3 yr. olds and 2/week for 4 yr. olds.
Set by Parent Program Board. Subsidies may be available.
